What stereotypes are there about Massachusetts?
Every state has stereotypes that people believe but simply aren't true. Massachusetts is no different. One of the stereotypes about Massachusetts is we're all terrible drivers. Simply not true. It's also a common misconception that everyone in Massachusetts has a Boston accent. Fact check: no. When outsiders think of Cape Code, they usually think of the wealthy. Well, sure, there are some wealthy people that live on the Cape. However, many residents are middle class whose main concern is arriving at work on time on those busy summer mornings when the roads are teeming with tourists.
Do Bay Staters have any strange habits?
Living in Massachusetts means acquiring a few, well, strange habits, and we'll certainly defend them to the death. Most people in the U.S., arguably, will follow whatever route that takes us home the quickest. Bay Staters, however, will take a 15-minute detour if it means seeing spectacular fall foliage. Ever ask someone from Massachusetts for directions? You've probably noticed that they'll tell you how to get somewhere in time rather than using street names. "Just head 10 minutes down…" Striking up conversations with strangers; using "wicked" when we describe things; and knowing the art of sarcasm while still being nice are some more of those endearing habits.

Bay Staters certainly know a thing or two about good food, and there are some foods that everyone from Massachusetts has eaten at least one time or another.
